Philo is High Fashion's Future
Phoebe Philo, former creative director of Céline and Chloé, is back in the game with her highly-anticipated namesake LVMH-backed label. Known as Philophiles, Philo’s most devoted fans are ecstatic at the return of her unique take on silent luxury and practical clothing for busy women. The brand is a bit of an anomaly—there’s no fashion show, only e-commerce, and their small production means that highly-coveted products sell out in the blink of an eye.
Philo is an innovator beyond design—with a business model differing widely from her luxe peers, she manages to inspire a new approach to luxury, one of accessibility and sustainability. You can tap into the collection in just a few clicks from the comfort of your home. And while the garments are expensive and luxurious, the fact that the label renounces the runway, that everyone will discover the garments in the same way, feels like a new kind of inclusivity in the high-fashion sector. It’s a blend of modernity and haute couture in a way…limited luxurious items, but only available online.
Aesthetically the new collection updated some of the beloved silhouettes we saw during her tenure at Céline and Chloé, like menswear pants, oversized blazers, and dynamite pointed shoes. Yet, there are some new details to make note of—lots of leather and sporty accents were present in Phoebe’s new collection, along with a confident yet subtle sexiness. Flared pants with full-length zippers revealing the backs of legs, plus gold hot pants that are sure to turn heads.
At Garmentory, Phoebe Philo is the kind of brand that we admire—innovation in luxury and sustainability are principles that also drive our organization, and we’re all for real garments that carry real women seamlessly, comfortably, and confidently through their daily and busy lives.
